Google has announced PhD Fellowship India 2022. PhD Fellowship program is open for The early-stage PhD Fellowship and Late-stage PhD Fellowships. The closing date for submission of application is 18 May 2022.

Google PhD Fellowship India 2022: The Google PhD Fellowship Program recognizes outstanding graduate students doing exceptional work in computer science, related disciplines, or promising research areas. Fellowship students are given funding to support them in their graduate studies. Google runs PhD Fellowship programs in several regions throughout the globe including US/Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Australia, India, China and East Asia.

Google PhD Fellowships directly support graduate students as they pursue their PhD, as well as connect them to a Google Research Mentor. This highly competitive program offers both early and late-stage PhD fellowships to recognize and encourage graduate students doing work in Computer Science and related fields.

What does the Google PhD Fellowship include?

Students receive named Fellowships which include a monetary award. The funds are given directly to the university to be distributed to cover the student’s expenses and stipend as appropriate. IIT Bombay Announces MTech & PhD Admission July 2022 ! Application Portal Opens from 21 March

Mumbai, 17 March 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, an Institute of National Importance, has announced MTech, PhD Admission for  Autumn Semester 2022-23.  Regular PhD students will be eligible for Research Assistantship (RA) and Teaching Assistantship (TA) [Financial support as per MHRD norm].

IIT Madras Announces PhD, Direct PhD & MS (by Research) Admission July 2022 with Fellowships

Chennai, 16 March 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has opened application window for PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) Admission July 2022 Semester. Scholars admitted to PhD and MS programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).

Fellowships: Scholars admitted to PhD and M.S. programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).  PhD Candidates will get Rs 31,000 /- Per Month while MS (By Research) candidates will get Rs 12,400 Per Month. They should work for 8 hours per week in the Departments to earn this assistantship.

IIT Gandhinagar Announces PhD Admission Sem I 2022-23 with Institute Fellowships

Gandhinagar, 03 March 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for Semester I 2022-23. Regular(RR) and Continuing Doctoral Programme (CDP) are available.

Students joining the PhD program as regulars (RR) will be considered for Institute Fellowship based on the Ministry of Education norms.

IIT Indore Announces PhD Admission June 2022 with Institute Fellowships

Indore, 04 March 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for Spring Semester 2021-22.

Types of PhD Admission:  

FA (Fellowship Awardee): Fellowship Awardees from the funding agencies such as CSIR, UGC, NBHM, DST etc., OR JRF/ SRF project staff working in a sponsored research project under a faculty member, PI of the project, of IIT Indore. The scholarship will be as per the rules of the concerned funding agency.

TA (Teaching Assistantship): Institute Teaching Assistantship with scholarship as per MHRD guidelines.

SW (Sponsored WITHOUT Institute scholarship): For applicants sponsored from a highly reputed R & D organization or Industry.

IS (Institute Staff): Only for regular staff members of IIT Indore (on Part Time basis). (Additional Rules) DF (Defense Forces): Serving personnel of defense forces WITHOUT any scholarship from the Institute.

Pondicherry University Opens PhD Admission 2022 for 197 Seats

Pondicherry, 21 March 2022: Pondicherry University, a Central University, has announced Admission for 2020-21. For PhD Admission, the total number of vacant seats are 197 across 28 subjects.

Only those candidates who have qualified the National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC / CSIR or such National Level examination recognized by the University as equivalent and awarded a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or any other fellowship for pursuing doctoral research are eligible to apply.

Central University of Kerala Opens PhD Admission for 135 Seats in 21 Departments

Thiruvananthapuram, 12 March 2022: Central University of Kerala, a Central University, has announced PhD Admission for 2020-21. The total number of seats are 135 across 21 Departments.

Manipur University, a Central University, Opens PhD Admission 2022 for 24 Subjects

Imphal, Manipur, 24 February 2022: Manipur University, a Central University, has announced PhD Admission for 2022-23. The PhD Admission is available in 24 subjects. The closing date for submission of application is 31 March 2022.

Holders of four-year undergraduate degrees with a minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 7.5 will be eligible for admission to PhD courses, according to revised norms proposed by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The UGC, regulator for Higher Education, has proposed some changes in the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2016.  The UGC has also proposed that sixty percent of the total vacant PhD seat of the academic year shall be filled from NET/JRF qualified students and the remaining forty percent through the university/common entrance test qualified students on the basis of Interviews conducted by the concerned Institute.

The draft of the revised regulations — ‘UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022’ is being uploaded on the official website of the UGC. The UGC has appealed the public to given their suggestions and feedback on these changes.

The Draft paper on the one of eligibility norms for PhD Admission reads a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree with Research should have a minimum CGPA of 7.5/10.

A relaxation of 0.5 score, i.e. CGPA of 7/10 or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

A 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree programme (after 4 year undergraduate degree) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 10- point scale will be also eligible for PhD Admission in universities.

According to the document, there is a status quo in terms of the procedure of admissions. Meanwhile, the draft guidelines spell out the eligibility criteria after the discontinuation of MPhil degree under NEP 2020, and introduction of four-year undergraduate programmes (FYUP).

The University Grants Commission (UGC), the regulator of Higher Education,  has revised the rules for admission to PhD programmes. Now Sixty percent of the total vacant PhD seat of the academic year shall be filled from NET/JRF qualified students and the remaining forty percent through the university/common entrance test qualified students on the basis of Interviews conducted by the concerned Institute.

The draft of the revised regulations — ‘UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022’ is being uploaded on the official website of the UGC.

The new norms have been put on the official UGC website and made public. Based on the public feedback, the commission will finalise the regulations.

NET/JRF (Junior Research Fellowship), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is the exam that determines the student’s eligibility to apply for Assistant Professors in Universities and Colleges and JRF status.

However, from now, 60 per cent of the total seats of the academic year for a PhD programme in universities and colleges shall be filled by NET/JRF qualified candidates. The remaining 40 per cent shall be filled through the university/common entrance test.

For those who have qualified through NET/JRF, the selection will be based on interview/viva-voce.

For candidates who have passed the entrance test, the selection shall be evaluated in the ratio 70 (written test) to 30 (interview).

The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of questions that test research/ analytical/ comprehension/quantitative aptitude.

Qualifying marks in the entrance test will be 50%, provided that a relaxation of 5% of marks (from 50% to 45%) shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layers)/Differently-abled category in the entrance examination conducted by the Universities. Provided further that, if despite the above relaxation, the seats allotted to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layers)/Differently-abled categories remain unfilled, the Universities concerned shall launch a Special Admission Drive, for that particular category within one month from the date of closure of admissions of General Category. The University concerned shall devise its own admission procedure, along with eligibility conditions to ensure that most of the seats under these categories are filled.
