AcSIR Common PhD Entrance Test January 2023 for 44 CSIR Research Labs is Open

Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) New Delhi, an Institute of National Importance, has opened applications portal for admission to PhD in Science and Engineering Programs for the January 2023 Batch. The research streams are disciplines of Science and Engineering – an exciting opportunity to pursue doctoral research in world renowned CSIR Laboratories – the Nation-wide Network of AcSIR Centers.

AcSIR is common PhD Entrance test for 44 CSIR Laboratories coming under AcSIR. There is no application fee for PhD Test.

The programs are offered under following categories: (1) PhD (Engineering) (Eligibility-ME/MTech); (2) PhD (Sciences);  (3) IDDP (MTech & PhD) in Engineering (Eligibility-BE/BTech); MSC; MTech

For January 2023 Session

The closing date for submission of application is 31 August 2022 for Early Admission PhD

The closing date for submission of application is 30 September 2022 for Regular Admission – All Programs

For August 2023 Session

The closing date for submission of application is 28 February 2022 for Early Admission PhD

For Regular Admission – All Programs, the closing date will be announced.

Eligibility Conditions:

PhD (Sciences):

Candidates with a Master’s degree in Science or equivalent are eligible to apply. The candidate should be having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.) or any other equivalent fellowship like INSPIRE, RGNF etc.

Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows, Group-IV Scientists and Group-III Technical Staff of CSIR are also eligible to apply (as per relevant AcSIR rules).

Sponsored PhD (Sciences):

Candidates with a Master’s degree in Science or equivalent are eligible to apply with endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during program.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD (Engineering) and Sponsored PhD (Engineering)

(i)    A Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4/5 year science degree; or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree; or equivalent.

AND

(ii)     At least one of the following

(a)     Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes

(b)    Meeting all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-SRF

(c)     Meeting all the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University)

(d)    Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a PhD

(e)    Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students.

Eligibility criteria for IDDP (Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D) Program

(i)      A 4-year undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science (such as BE/BTech/BS), or a five year degree in Science (such as MSc), or equivalent.

AND

(ii)     At least one of the following

(a)     Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes

(b)    Meeting all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-GATE-JRF

(c)     Meeting all the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University)

(d)    Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a PhD

(e)    Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students.

IIT Bombay PhD Admission Spring Semester AY 2022-23 to Open from 09 Sept 2022

In India, there 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India. These 23 Institutes of National Importance (INIs) offer Institute Fellowships to PhD Scholars.

IIT Bombay is expected to release information brochure for PhD Programme 2022-23 (Spring Semester) on 07 September 2022. The online application portal will open from 09 September 2022. The PhD classes will commence from 02 January 2023.

For the Academic Year 2022-23, IIT Bombay has announced the sanctioned strength for PhD Programme. The total PhD Intake capacity for AY 2022-23 is 445 as compared to 431 in the previous years.  IIT Bombay will admit 445 PhD Scholars in AY 2022-23 through two Admission Semesters. For Autumn semester, the admission had closed.

Research Assistantship (RA): A candidate, selected for the Ph.D. Programme, at IIT Bombay will be eligible for the financial support under the RA category subject to the fulfilment  of criteria.

The assistantship is payable for a maximum duration of 5 years or up to the thesis submission, whichever is earlier. The monthly rate of assistantship is Rs. 35,000/ for the first 2 years and enhanced rate of Rs. 39,000/ for the remaining period.

JNU Entrance Exam PhD Admission 2022-23: Application Portal to Open Soon for 403 Seats

Jawaharlal Nehru University, India’s top ranked university, has released the prospectus for PhD Admission and Diploma in Proficiency for academic year 2022-23.

The total number of PhD vacant seats are: 798

PhD (Through JNU Entrance Examination) – 403 Seats

PhD (JRF Category)- 311 Seats

PhD (GATE Category )-  84 Seats

The candidates seeking admission into PhD programmes have to appear in the CBT (Computer Based Test).

JRF qualified candidates shall be exempted from Computer Based Test (CBT). They are required to apply separately under JRF category. Such candidates shall be shortlisted and called directly for viva-voce.

GATE qualified candidates for the admission in the school of Engineering shall be exempted from Computer Based Test (CBT). They are required to apply separately under GATE category. Such candidates shall be shortlisted and called directly for viva-voce.

The application portal for JRF qualified and GATE qualified category candidates is open now.

The application portal for Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE)  2022-23 will open very soon, as the notification from JNU.
