Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, an Institute of National Importance, has announced  PhD Admission for December 2022 Session.

Total Number of PhD Seats: The total number of PhD Seats available are 358 for the December 2022 session. Special Seats for Ph.D Programme under CSIR/UGC JRF Scheme are 45.

Stipend for PhD Regular Full Time: At present, the Institute provides monthly assistantship of Rs. 31,000 for the first two years and RS.35,000 for the next three years to our regular full time PhD students.

They receive Financial Assistantship/ Scholarship from IIT Guwahati or Fellowship from CSIR/UGC or any other recognized funding agency.

The Financial Assistantship/ Scholarship from the Institute or the Fellowship from External funding agency is granted to them as per its governing rules and subject to satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory performance in assigned teaching assistant duty.

In order to avail assistantship/ scholarship from the Institute or the fellowship from the respective external funding agency, these candidates must have the following requirements unless they are exempted from these.

The candidates with four-year Bachelor’s degree (BE/BTech/ BDes or equivalent) as qualifying degree must have valid and qualifying GATE score (CEED score in case of Department of Design)

The candidates with MSc degree as qualifying degree must have valid and qualifying GATE score or valid CSIR-NET(JRF)/ INSPIRE/ NBHM-PhD qualification, etc.

The candidates having MA in Humanities and Social Sciences subjects or equivalent must have valid UGC-NET qualification.

The requirement of valid GATE/ CEED/ NET/ INSPIRE, etc. is exempted for the candidates with qualifying degree as Bachelor’s (BTech/BDes) degree or Masters’ (MA/MSc) degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with minimum CPI of 8.0 in a 10-point scale.

Key Dates:  The application will close on 30 September 2022. The PhD Entrance Test (PET) will be held on 06 November 2022.

Eligibility Conditions:  Candidates have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19 September 1991.

Candidates who have cleared the MPhil course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the MPhil Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the PhD. Degree in the same institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently- Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time.

Exemption from appearing in Entrance Examination: The candidates fulfilling at least one of the following conditions will be exempted from Entrance Examination:

Candidates qualified in UGC-NET (Including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF)/SLET/SET/GATE (valid score/GPAT(valid score), CSIR / ICAR / ICMR / DBT & DST Inspire fellowship / Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Science (JGEEBILS) or Teacher fellowship holders will be exempted from the Entrance Test.

Candidates who have passed MPhil Programme of the Savitribai Phule Pune University will be exempted from the Entrance Test for PhD programme.

Candidates who have qualified in PET 2021 will be exempted from Entrance test for ph.D.

IIT Ropar Announces PhD Admission with Institute Fellowships for January 2023 Session

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, an Institute of National Importance, has released PhD Admission notification for Semester-II, Academic Year 2022-23.  Regular PhD Scholars will receive Institute Fellowships.

PhD Admissions are available in the following categories: Regular (Institute Research Scholars), Direct PhD, External PhD, Part-Time PhD, PhD for Project Staff, and PhD for IIT RoparStaff.

Key Dates: Last Date of Receipt of Online Applications is 10 October 2022.

Application Fee:

Women candidates & SC/ST/PwD category candidates : Rs. 100/-

All other candidates : Rs. 200/-
