Eight IITs Open PhD Admission January 2023 with Institute Fellowships ! Discover the List

In India there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). These carry Institutes of National Importance (INIs) tag and  are dream destination for PhD Scholars. These research universities offer Institute Fellowships as per Ministry of Education norms.

Dhanbad, 12 October 2022:  Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad [IIT(ISM)], previously known as ISM Dhanbad, has released official notification for – PhD Admission 2022-23. The PhD research areas are available in 21 disciplines.

All candidates seeking admission to the PhD program (full-time, external, sponsored, or part-time PhD) to the institute must apply online through the admission portal of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

IIT Madras Opens PhD & MS (by Research) Admission Jan 2023 with 745 Fellowship Seats

Chennai, 08 October 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has opened application window for PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) Admission January 2023 Semester.  Scholars admitted to PhD and MS programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).

The total number of vacant PhD seats with HTRA are 500 while MSC (by Research) seats are 245 for 2022-23 academic year.

Fellowships: Scholars admitted to PhD and M.S. programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the following Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA).  PhD Candidates will get Rs 31,000 /- Per Month while MS (By Research) candidates will get Rs 12,400 Per Month. They should work for 8 hours per week in the Departments to earn this assistantship.

IIT Hyderabad Announces PhD Admission January 2023 with Institute Fellowship

Hyderabad, 30 September 2022: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, invites applications for PhD programmes for the session January 2023. There are 17 departments where PhD programmes are offered. Institute Fellowships are offered to Full Time PhD Scholars.

NIT Calicut Opens PhD Admission December 2022 with Institute Fellowships

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, Kerala, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to PhD programmes July 2022 (Winter Semester (December) Admissions 2022-23). Institute Fellowships are available for Regular PhD Scholars.

Applicants must have ONE of the following in appropriate subject areas.

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree, with first class, 60% marks or equivalent (55% marks for SC/ST).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology, with first class, 60% marks or equivalent (55% marks for SC/ST)
  • Master’s degree in science, arts, social sciences, or equivalent degree, with first class, 60% marks or equivalent (55% marks for SC/ST).

B Applicants must also fulfil ONE of the following additional requirements.

  1. Valid GATE Score or CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/LS) (Also refer to Table below for discipline specific criteria).

2. Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR/DAE or DST INSPIRE Fellowship (Also refer to Table below for discipline specific criteria).

3. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience. The experience gained while acquiring a Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or experience acquired after obtaining the qualifying degree and completed before the starting of the semester in which admission is sought may be considered as professional experience.

4. BTech from IIT with a CPI/CGPA of 8.0 or more.

An ongoing degree may also be considered as a qualifying degree provided the applicant graduates before the PhD program starts.
